What Will Physiotherapy With Storm Look Like?

What to Expect From Your Physiotherapy Session

Hello, I’m Storm. I’ve been a physiotherapist since 2002, and I want you to feel confident and informed about what will happen if you come to see me.

From your very first session, my goal is clarity. For this I need to know who you are. The first part of the appointment is getting to know you, who you are as a human, outside of your injury. Then we get to know what is going on for you, with your injury. From there we can bridge the gap and work out what needs to be done to get you back to being you.

We delve into the pillars of being human, the things you love to do, the people you love to be around, how you move, eat and drink, how you sleep, how you rest, and all the good things. It's all in the same container and it's all important.

By the end of your appointment, you will understand what is going on with your body. You won’t leave guessing.

You will also learn at least one practical thing you can do for yourself to help reduce your symptoms and start feeling better straight away.

You will leave with a clear plan. This includes an outline of what we are working on together and a realistic idea of the timeframes involved in your treatment, so you know what progress should look like.

This will all be written down and emailed to you. If you have any exercises that require some skill, a video will be included in your resources.

If I’m not able to fully identify the source of your problem in the first session, I don’t push on blindly. I will reassess, review my findings, and if needed, see you for another session to make sure nothing has been missed.

Physiotherapy should make a difference. If your symptoms are not changing and you’re not feeling better within the first session, or in cases that have been around for a while, or are more compex, at most, three sessions, I will refer you on.

Here's the rub: I refuse to continue treating people who aren’t improving. Physiotherapy can create significant positive change, but it isn’t the right solution for everyone — and that matters. If I am not going to be the answer, I will find someone who can be helpful for you.

My promise to you is this:

  1. by the end of your session, you will know whether physiotherapy is right for you.

  2. If it's not right for you, I'll find the right person to dig deeper.

  3. You will understand what’s happening in your body, and

  4. You will have something that helps you feel better.

  5. You will know how long it’s likely to take.

  6. You will have all of this in writing
